Holiday and Special Services
First Church offers a variety of special, seasonal and themed services throughout the year to which you are warmly invited to attend.
Service of Prayer and Healing
This monthly meaningful and meditative service is held in the Chapel following worship on Sundays from September through June. Inspired by the Celtic Tradition, the roughly half-hour service will include music, readings, prayers and an opportunity to receive a “Laying on of Hands” blessing. Please watch the calendar for specific dates.
A celebration of Christmas designed especially for families and children of all ages.
Candle Light Service
A beautifully traditional celebration of the birth of Christ in lessons, carols and candle light.
A reflective service offered before Christmas in recognition that the Holiday season can be very challenging for those who have recently suffered a loss.
A service of Ashes and Communion, held in our Chapel, to begin the season of Lent.
A service marking the beginning of Holy Week and Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem.
A “Tenebrae,” or “Service of Shadows,” commemorating Jesus Last Supper with his disciples in the upper room.
An uplifting celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection, complete with choirs, bells, lilies and trumpets.
An ecumenical service put on by the churches of the Greater Manchester Clergy Association and held in a different church every year.

"We visited several churches after moving to Manchester. In our worship at First Church we were overwhelmed by the great preaching, the magnificent music and the very welcoming congregation. We feel truly blessed to have been led to membership at First Church."
