Dress A Girl Around the World at FCC!
Dress A Girl Around the World has given our congregation and friends at First Congregational Church a terrific opportunity for fellowship and comraderie at Sews, while supplying girls at risk around the world with a special dress! We believe that every girl deserves at least one NEW DRESS. Hand delivered by missionaries who treat the girls like our own granddaughters, these dresses are sewn with love and understanding. We meticulously sew sturdy dresses with adjustable straps for years of wear, knowing they will rarely be washed. Each dress has large pockets to hold “treasures” and a new pair of panties, and has a Dress A Girl label conspiculously placed warning a predator that these girls are protected by a larger organization…so hands off!
Anyone interested in joining our mission, starting a sewing mission of their own, or sewing on their own, can contact our Administrator, Linda Bonetti (LBonetti@FCCManchesterNH.org), for instructions and guidance. Watch our calendar for future Sews.
Anyone wishing to contribute financially so we can purchase supplies and fabric should also contact Linda. We are always in need of good fabric, but we are particular about 100% cotton and appropriate prints. Double fold bias tape (extra wide .5 inches) is always needed, as is no-roll elastic 1/2″-1″. Mid or high rise panties are included with each dress…sizes 4-14 (colors, stripes, flowers…no animals or characters). Gift cards to Hobby Lobby or Joann Fabrics are always welcome!
If you are aware of a mission traveling to an impoverished area where dresses would be beneficial for the girls, please contact Linda for an application.
