“Live as children of light—for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord.”
— Ephesians 5:8-10 (NRSV)
Except for the fact that I could not for the life of me get my bow tie on straight, our presentation of Death by Chocolate last weekend was a roaring success. We had no idea how many to plan for, but were thrilled when all of 50 of you showed up. There was laughter, teasing, fun and dessert to be had by all, and when Mike Bison was revealed as the ender of Billy Bonka’s life, even the cast was taken aback!
Based on the enthusiastic response, it occurred to me that it’s been much too long since we’ve done something just for fun and fellowship. So much of life is so serious these days. Taking an afternoon off for a little light and playful entertainment did my soul a world of good, and I know I wasn’t alone. I dare say, all work and no play is not “pleasing to the Lord.”
I want to thank Pam Pleas for being the creative force behind the event, all the cast members, all those who brought chocolate treats for our smorgasbord, and all who came by to join in the fun. We’ve already had a number of requests to “please do it again.” This year’s effort is done, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if our cast was back next year to solve yet another mystery. Death by Disco anyone?
Yours in Grace,
